This course aims to teach dental professionals about the following topics related to dental radiography: the components of an x-ray unit, production and emission of characteristic x-rays, attenuation of radiation, image production in intra-oral and extra-oral film radiography, imaging detectors, exposure parameters, CBCT imaging, panoramic and cephalometric radiography, and referral criteria. By completing this course, learners will be able to describe the advantages and limitations of different dental imaging equipment, explain the process of image formation, and understand the principles of radiation protection and patient dose minimization. They will also learn about guidelines for dental radiography referrals and the importance of quality assurance and control in dental radiography.
