This course is designed to teach dental professionals about the roles and responsibilities of employees, Radiation Protection Supervisors (RPS), Radiation Protection Advisers (RPA), and Duty Holders under IR(ME)R17. Participants will also learn about the importance of Medical Physics Experts (MPEs) in dental practice and their responsibilities, dose limits for staff and other persons, and radiation safety considerations for carers and comforters. The course covers training needs for staff involved with exposure to ionising radiation, legal and registration requirements, and an overview of IR(ME)R 2017 and IRR17 guidance documents. Lastly, participants will understand the reporting requirements for accidental and unintended exposures of patients and staff. By completing this course, participants will be able to ensure good radiation protection practices in their dental practice and comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
